Lomonosov Moscow State University is a co-educational research university established in 1755. Located in Moscow, the university is home to over 35,000 students comprising around 3500 part-time, around 3800 international students and the remaining and full-time teaching staff of around 9500 faculty members. The university comprises around 40 faculties and more than 10 research centers. Some of the primary faculties include- Faculty of History, Faculty of Geology, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Journalism, Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Biology among others.

The enrolled undergraduate students can choose the programs from more than 135 programs offered by the university. Whereas, postgraduate students may choose the specialization field from more than 15 branches of humanities and science from over 160 areas. The university also offers around 150 distance learning programs.

The university maintains fifteen research institutes, a science park, a recreational center, 350 departments and a publishing house. The university also operates around 5 satellite campuses and has 6 branches in Russia. MSU has partnerships with around 50 higher academic institutions across the globe.

Notable alumni of the university include eleven Nobel Prize Winners and 7 winners of Fields Medal. Prominent personalities of the university are Anton Chekhov, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Ivan Turgenev among others.
