Regarded as the oldest tertiary institution, The University of Hong Kong dates back over a hundred years. Since its birth, HKU has been an institution with a forward-thinking approach. Situated in Pokfulam, Hong Kong, HKU came into existence in 1911.

Enrolling more than 20,000 students including international students coming from Australia, Chile, USA, India, Japan, Portugal, Pakistan, and Singapore. Comprising 10 faculties, the university offers numerous programs on the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Faculties include- Science and Social Sciences, Dentistry, Architecture, Education, Arts, Medicine, Law, Engineering and Business and Economics. The teaching staff of around 3000 full-time faculty members includes researchers and almost half of the professors from abroad.

Learning at HKU includes the Common Core Curriculum – important element of which includes Experiential Learning (EL). HKU has collaborated with non-government organizations, companies, universities and social enterprises around the world in order to provide them industrial exposure. Some recent examples of the projects include Migrant Outreach Education Initiative (MOEA) which aimed at providing English tutoring to numerous migrants in Thailand, Cambodia, and China among others.

HKU offers a number of study abroad programs and is committed to foster the growth of its students as responsible global citizens. Partnership with over 5 continents and more than 25 countries, around 280 exchange members associated with HKU comprise some of the most reputed Universities in the world.

The University of Hong Kong has educated numerous notable personalities in many fields. Some of the prominent alumni include the founder of modern China Dr. Sun Yat –sen. The graduates OF HKU have always remained the first priority of recruiters. With an employment rate of 99.8%, the University now looks forward to foster internationalization through an even improved academic environment.
