The University of Dublin has Trinity College as the only constituent college. It was established in the year 1592. It has a two sister colleges- St. John’s College, Cambridge and Oriel College, Oxford. It was fashioned out as collegiate universities like Oxford and Cambridge but the establishment of only one college could be done unlike the Oxford and the Cambridge.

The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in faculties of arts, humanities and social sciences; engineering, mathematics and sciences; and health sciences. The faculties are divided into 24 schools. Besides, jointly taught courses are provided for in collaboration with different teaching institutions such as Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin Institute of Technology, and Irish Management Institute. The library of Trinity College- is very rich with over 4.5 million volumes of manuscripts, music, and maps. Moreover, it is the legal deposit library for the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The university had enrolled 15521 students, in the year 2015, along with 1181 faculty members. International students consisted of 25% of the total strength of students. Amongst the alumni of the university are involved names of Samuel Beckett, Oscar Wilde, William Campbell, George Berkeley, and Jonathan Swift.
