The University of Chicago came into existence in 1890. It is considered as one of the most influential and leading institutions of higher education. Located in Chicago, central campus of the University is spread over 200 acres of land. Being at the forefront of major discoveries and academic endeavor, the university has connections with over 75 Nobel laureates, around 10 Field Medalists and more than 25 National Medal winners.

Founding member of the oldest conference of intercollegiate athletics known as ‘Big Ten Conference’, the University of Chicago today sponsors over 15 intercollegiate sports. Participating teams play under one name ‘The Maroons’- the nickname of the university and also its official color.
