One of the oldest universities in Europe, Tübingen boasts of a rich history of academic excellence. Founded in the year 1477, it majors in providing education in humanities and natural science. It is also renowned in the field of schooling theology and religion. It is among the nine universities which is funded by the federal state of Germany.
The university takes up research in various fields and domains, but natural science is one of its major subjects. Today, the university has more than 28,000 students enrolled under various degree courses, comprising a substantial international student population that it pulls for the reputation it holds. In total, the university has 7 faculties and 1 graduate school wherein more than 5,000 administrative and academic staff are employed. The university offers graduate - Bachelors, post graduate – Masters, Doctorate and other nationally recognized degrees.
University of Tübingen is also the home to a public library which is the store house of more than 3 million books and 7000 plus journals. The student life in Tubingen is quite balanced with physical activity, theatres, entertainment all available in the town.
