University of Western Australia is a 105 year old academic institution established by an act of Western Australian Parliament in the year 1911. Locally this university is called as Sandstone University. It is also the oldest university in the Western Australia. It has gained a lot of international acclamation and recognition for its excellent record of producing scholars and influential people and for excellent teaching facilities. Till date, the university has given 100 Rhodes Scholars to the world; also one Nobel Prize laureate and a Minister. Coming to the reputation, it does have a very good scorecard worth boasting and showing off.

For bibliophiles this place is a heaven as it has not one but 6 main subject libraries which are Reid Arts and Business Library, Law Library, Music Library and Science Library, Education, Fine Arts and Architecture (EDFAA) library and Medical and Dental Library. It partners with national and international institutes and groups to provide the learners and researcher with access to best facilities, recognition, platform to showcase their work and expert guidance. It is a part of the Group of Eight, Matariki and the Worldwide Universities Network. The university has its own over 80 research institutes and centres. Currently, it has around 20,000 students and 3000 academic and administrative staff combined.
