XLRI adds another feather to its cap, accredited by AACSB International

Some names are synonymous with excellence and need no introduction. One such name is Xavier Labor Relations Institute (XLRI). Established in 1949, XLRI is considered to be the oldest business and management school of India. Presently, it is known as Xavier School of Management and is situated at Jamshedpur in the state of Jharkhand.

It has been accredited by Association of MBAs (AMBA), which is an internationally recognized accreditation, in the year 2015; and in the past, by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). It adds yet another feather to its already full cap with the accreditation guaranteed by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) for its doctoral and management programs. Only a handful of global business and management schools have received this prestigious accreditation for their doctoral programs. In fact, less than 5% of the world’s business management programs have this accreditation.

AACSB International, founded in 1916, is the oldest international accrediting body for institutions that offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees in accounting and business. It is a stamp of hallmarked excellence achieved by undergoing a multi-year process of arduous internal review, engagement with a mentor assigned by AACSB, and peer review. This process requires schools to focus on development and implementation of AACSB accreditation standards. These standards, that the schools have to abide by, enumerate many focal points such as excellent learning and teaching; active participation of students, staff, and faculty; professional and academic participation; and goal oriented management and innovation.
